Ours died when my two year old decided that they needed a bath, with soap. She left the bar of soap in the bowl and they were -- let's just say, not swimming around the next morning.

The funniest fish story I heard was told by a friend of mine. Whe he was a kid, he owned some guppies, and used to clean their tank on a regular basis. His routine was to fill a glass with water from the faucet, scoop the fish out of the tank with a net, deposit the fish in the glass, and proceed to clean the tank. One time, when he deposited the fish into the glass, they went into violent convulsions and then stopped moving. It seems that his Mom has just used the faucet, and the water in the faucet that was immediately deposited into the glass was scalding hot.
