I had some baitfish goldfish as a kid put them in a tank and the suckers would never die. I swear they lived for years and i rarely cleaned the tank. They got to be pretty big too. I think they were mutant.

I had the same thing happen with a feeder goldfish my 2 year old "fell in love" with . . . . that thing saw my son's 6th birthday before it had the grace to kick off. Never again.

my kids won 5 goldfish at some church picnic -- 1 died, then 4 lived for 4 years. They met a sudden end when my daughter brought home two more tiny ones froma birthday party and I thoughtlessly dumped the newcomers into the tank. Everyone went belly-up within a week!
