If U.S. troops go into Iraq, Chirac faces personal ruin because the U.S. would obtain and could release documentation proving that Chirac was on Saddam's payroll and that French companies were providing nuclear, biological and chemcial weapons technology in violation of all U.N. sanctions and the Germans were building Saddam's underground shelters. Chirac never dreamed a non-Clintonite would take the Presidency and threaten to go into Iraq. He's desperate to prevent a U.S. invasion.

Saddam has Chirac on retainer. Literally. He owns him.
To: AntiDemocrat
It means collaboration. From the 1960s to the present, with Iraq, or to be more precise, Saddam. From 1940-45 it was with the Germans.

No, he's trying to make the grown ups (i.e. France and Germany) act accordingly instead of like a bunch of petchulant spoiled children. It's no different than when I have to play hard @ss w/ my kids to make them do their homework, except the stakes are bigger.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head.

This is not the Fourth Reich. This is two burglars (Chirac and Schroeder) caught in a house when the owner comes home.

Chirac and Schroeder are both collaborating with Saddam. In Chirac's case, personally.
To: Dqban22
Chirac is trying to save his own political career. Even prior to the brouhaha over Iraq, Chirac was under investigation for corruption. Imagine the furor if invading U.S. troops produce documentary evidence that Chirac was receiving bribes from Saddam! And that the French were aiding Saddam's nuclear and nerve gas programs and the Germans and Chinese were building Saddam's underground shelters.

Yes Richard Reid was coming from France. Moussoui the "20th Hijacker" was from Algeria. Because Algeria used to be a French colony, they are granted French citizenship. His mother lives in Paris now as well. So yes there are French links to 9/11.

I think it would be a disaster for these Eastern European nations to join the EU, particularly for the homeland of some of my ancestors, Poland.I hope this episode with Germany, France and Belgium makes it abundantly clear to aspiring EU members that they are simply going to be ruled by the imperialists named above. The Germans tried to take Poland twice by force of arms. Now they hope to achieve control over Polish lands by dazzling the average Pole with promises of material prosperity. But Poland and other EU candidates must give up their sovereignty for it. I am amazed that they are so willing to do that. Indeed, they seem eager to allow themselves to be controlled by foreign entities. Wasn't more than 50 years under Soviet control enough? Hopefully, now they'll reconsider their entry into the EU.

It would seem to me IMHO, that Germany and France are trying to do politically what Hitler and the Vichy French couldn't do by military means. And that is to control all of Europe under their joint rule.

I am really beginning to believe part of the Bush strategy is to give'em rope and let'em hang. Chirac is a horse's patoot!

Usually thieves are caught overreaching.
The Eurotrash never dreamed a Republican would win. Especially one who puts the security of the American people above accepting bribes.

And that is to control all of Europe under their joint rule.I can't figure out why these newly liberated European countries are seeking EU membership. Can't they see what the Germans and French are up to? It's plain as day from this side of the Atlantic.
To: Pyro7480
It has been increasingly clear to me that all the EU is for is to let France and Germany, and the technocrats in the various centers of EU rule (Brussels, Strasbourg, etc.) rule over Europe with an iron fist. I think it would be a disaster for these Eastern European nations to join the EU, particularly for the homeland of some of my ancestors, Poland. It will destroy the Catholic culture there. I say the Eastern European nations should say "Screw you!" to these EU leaders with delusions of grandeur, and let them go their on way. They don't want to put on chains so long after they broke the ones of Communist rule.
Well said.

Saddam has Chirac on retainer. Literally. He owns him.I assume you say that mostly in jest, but I'm beginning to wonder just exactly what IS going on with this moron. He's getting waaaaaayyy out there. Yes, I know France is a little joke-pissant-peonish and self-aggrandizing affront to statehood, but this guy is getting too far out there even in that context. It's really looking not like he objects to us going to war with Iraq--more like he's terrified for us to go to war with Iraq. Or maybe I've just underestimated the idiocy of the French.
