Try the other way. Hold down your ALT key.

Now WHILE HOLDING THE ALT KEY DOWN, type 0233.

Then release the alt key.

You should get this result: é

Don't hold the shift key, and don't have caps lock on.

You don't need to go near the "e" key on your keyboard.

ASCII codes are unique to each character.

The letter "e" is code 101. Alt 0101 makes e. e makes e.

Hope this helps.

I disabled and enabled HTML to show how the codes worked. It's done by using the <XMP> tag. You must close it to restore HTML coding.
