NA$CAR does have rain tires; on the two road courses where things aren't wall-to-wall concrete wall. None of the major oval series has had rain tires for just that reason.

If the Shootout hadn't been at night, then things would have been equal. However, 18 of those drivers would have had a hellofan advantage because the Shootout was last Saturday night.

They should have stuffed the restrictor plates; then the cars would have gone fast enough to get the DW Vortex (TM).

Hope for 32 restrictor-plate races then. DEI, frankly, stinks outside of Daytona/Talladega when their "nitrous tank" doesn't give them an advantage.
