You think computers and the Internet have been a positive development, on balance?

Yes, I do. And I would also ask, that if they're not, why are you using them?

Antibiotics? Stay tuned.

I would certainly not be alive today if it were not for antibiotics. Chances are you wouldn't either. Life expectancies in the age of untreatable infectious diseases were short.

We have all sorts on FR. I guess we must have Luddites, too.

Here's my point. The creation of weapons of mass destruction capable of ending civilization and even the species outweighs the positive benefits of science. Soon any state and significant "non-state actors" will be capable of detonating these weapons with impunity. Without science the species would survive. With it, survival is questionable, at best.
