(Of course, the naturalist philosophy unnecessarily behind most of evolution theorists work blocks out questions of ultimate purpose.) I'm using the word purpose as in this sentence, "The purpose of having eyes is to see." The word can be used that way. It really can. I just did. See?

You may use the word that if you wish. It would be better to say that "sometimes one may use eyes for seeing." Are you sure that the purpose of having eyes isn't melatonin regulation?
