Those of us who are linguistically challanged would greatly appreciate it.
I don't mind to pre-empt longjack's reply, but I hadn't understood him to say that his ping list would be limited to German readers only. In fact, he has been very good about translating articles and news from the German media for FreeRepublic.
I sure hope you and other Freepers interested in Germany will participate in German threads.
If I offended anyone I'm sorry.
As eabinga suggested, The finder would briefly describe the source, then input from other German readers would embellish or analyze as necessary.
It's often occured that someone posts a great source that I didn't find until days or weeks later.
I wouldn't mind if non-German readers are on the list, however, the focus of the list we dicussed was to post articles in German, so I wouldn't want to annoy people with a ping if they couldn't read the article.
On the other hand, the ensuing discussion may be interesting enough to some, and the discussion itself may make it unnecessary to translate the article.
I don't always have the time to translate, or an article will show up on a newswire in English a few hours later. A ping list for German readers will keep the thread on the board longer. A ping list will also increase the chance that one of us finds an English translation.
So, if people don't mind being pinged for German articles, it's fine with me. Let me know McGavin999.
