Thank You Patriots

I'm like a kid on Christmas morning, leaping from present to present, but in this case it is leaping from after action FReep report to report. I love watching the number of FReeps growing each week. We are really getting the word out that all Americans don't hate the military. Our troops need to know that real Americans love and respect them.
THANKS FOR BEING THERE FOR AMERICA AND FREEDOM.

GREAT job, guys.............!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so sorry we couldn't join you today. We have a couple of sick kids, etc., so had to stay close to home. Still, I know that you realize we were with you in spirit, and I salute you for a terrific effort. God bless.......

What a great day it was for Freeping! We were a little worried about the weather, but it was perfect most of the day. It was great seeing some of the regulars, CD, mykdsmom, overtaxed, whimpycat and others as well such as dei23, dstar, GOPPat, and more I can't think of right now. It was especially exciting meeting new people who had just heard of Free Republic and will be checking us out. There are so many people out there who don't know about Free Republic and are looking for a place to interact with like-minded conservatives. These rallies are great advertisement!
I had one polite, young guy come over from the other side and was questioning whether he was on the "correct" side or not. Don't know why he picked me out to talk to or if he spoke with anyone else. He just didn't understand why we couldn't buy the idea of more inspectors. When I explained to him that Saddam would still be there hiding all of his WMD and whenever the inspectors left, it would be the same old problem only bigger, he realized there was no logical solution doing it his way. It was like a lightbulb went off when he thought it through to the end. Well, you never know, maybe there's hope for that kid.
I loved having the young NC State students there. They had some great one-liners. Wish they'd had a bullhorn!
MKM, thanks for posting the pictures!

Peaceniks on the Confederate Monument.
Note what appears to be a Palestinian flag held (appropriately) left of center in the photo.
Wider shot of the peacenik crowd. Sorry about the minivan!

Ping!
Photo taken looking down our side.
Guy in green jacket just read about the rally in the paper; arm in camo jacket belongs to FReeper 'dstarr'.
More of OUR SIDE!
The gentleman in the VFW hat is dstarr's husband.
I believe I saw a Bronze Star on his hat. Thanks for your service, and for coming out to join us!

I was in Raleigh for a continuing education program, and heard you on WPTF radio as I was leaving town to return to Winston-Salem. I wish I could have been there, sounds like you did a great job.

Only one arrest though so everyone was fairly well behaved. One wopuld think that a peace rally wouldn't inspire ANY arrests.
God Bless you all, with a little extra for the women who drove in from Wilmington.
You did very well.

MKM, thanks for the report and for all the great comments on the rally. I was there, with my kids, and found it to be a very uplifting experience.
As a veteran, dad, and American, I appreciated the many well thought out commentaries displayed by our group as well as the priviledge of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with patriots. I saw mention of one the anti-war pukes using that actual expression (shoulder-to-shoulder) in a quoted remark referring, I belive, to the solidarity of the peacenik movement, and it made me laugh (as did many of their other mindless posters). I wonder if the speaker had any idea that this expression is derived from the position of soldiers who are marching into battle - shoulder-to-shoulder.
Regardless of all the "hype" given to the anti-war pukes, we know that it is much harder to stand for what is right, than take the easier path that has been given to those of us who live in this great country. Here's a quick piece of Mark Steyn's comments on the matter:
"The "peace" marches? Oh, I've nothing to say. Can't improve on Tony Blair, looking out of his window and observing: "If there are 500,000 on that march, that is still less than the number of people whose deaths Saddam has been responsible for. If there are one million, that is still less than the number of people who died in the wars he started."
In other words, if it's a numbers game, those are the ones that matter.
God bless everyone who remains steadfast in their support of our country and God bless the USA!
