The old nuke defence plan was of nuclear deterance.

Basically the aim is to have more nukes than the opposition.

I am in Australia and would be worried more about nuke in a shipping container than a nuke on a missile.

I am in California, near a port city, and fear the same. But regardless of the method of delivery, we have reduced ourselves as nations to the defensive status of a homeowner. We HAVE to wait until the burglar or nuke is in and actually stealing or ticking until we may act in our own defense.

Even then, we will have to justify our actions.

A nuke in a shipping container leaves no contrails. Therefore, it is hard to trace.

The only deterence that America, Austrailia and the rest of the free world have against that type of attacks is the "round up the usual suspects" defence. The rogue nations must be made to know that a clandestine nuke attack on the free world is open season on dictators.

I'm thankful we have a president who will address the problem before it comes to that.

"I am in Australia and would be worried more about nuke in a shipping container than a nuke on a missile."

You bet! I went to college in Seattle WA. Everyday I would drive past the port cranes on my way home to Tacoma (another deep water container port). I used to think a nuke in any of the dozens of ships that sat in the Puget Sound would not only kill off most of the people in the city(ies), but would render the Sound un-navigable, effectively reducing or eliminating the ability to ship equipment/personnel out of the region...would most likely render the naval bases and military airfields (Paine, Boeing, and McChord AFB) unusable. Lots of potential combat power that could have been headed toward Korea (or China) would be rendered useless with one weapon. Amazing how vulnerable our borders and ports are...

regards,
