SINN Fein will introduce a Bill on military neutrality during the party's first Private Members' time in the Dail next week.
The party revealed its plans as president Gerry Adams yesterday called for tens of thousands of people to join the anti-war demonstrations taking place in Dublin and Belfast tomorrow.
Mr Adams was critical of the Government's failure to use its influence in the UN to halt the US and British drive towards war with Iraq.
Labour leader Pat Rabbitte also urged the fullest possible turnout for the march, which he will also be attending.
"The Irish people have an honourable record of opposition to war and support for the principle of peaceful settlement of international disputes. I hope they will turn out in large numbers and join with like-minded people from all over the world, including many in the United States, in expressing their opposition to the alarming rush to war over Iraq," Mr Rabbitte said.
Sinn Fein's leader in the Dail, Caoimhghin O Caolain, said the party was hoping to have a full-scale debate on neutrality.
He said the Government had refused to state what its position would be if Iraq was attacked without UN backing.

Sinn Fein / IRA's position appears to be, "Why waste perfectly good bombs in Iraq, when they are needed at home?"
I realise some of you feel strongly about Northern Ireland. There are better ways to achieve things than by supporting these thugs.

Oi! Where's the tri-colour? ;-)
Incidentally, I always think it ironic when I see Sinn Fein involved in 'peace' rallies. They have either thick necks, or short memories.

I didn't want to soil your noble flag by putting it in the same breath as Sinn Fein, darling.

The IRA is on my list of terrorists that need to be delt with. Sein Finn has has used the same play book as Arafat and Sddam.

Ivan, looks like Crazy Gerry's been conferring with his pal Clinton lately.

Kinda refreshing to see Sinn Fein pass on a war.

Absolutely every last paramilitary, loyalist or republican, needs to be put out of Northern Ireland's misery. What makes Sinn Fein dangerous is that they are a political party in both Northern Ireland and the Republic as well, and using that leverage to try and pick up the anti-EU vote.
Of course the mainstream parties in Ireland are utterly stupid in ignoring the resentment against the EU, which is bound to grow in Ireland over time, once Ireland becomes a net contributor nation to the EU budget rather than a net beneficiary.

Are they running out of Guinness and Jameson's over there? We in the US are willing to make the sacrifice.
We'll even throw in some duct tape.

They don't want their allies which provided terrorist training and provided their bombs and weapons killed.
They might need more bombs and weapons to kill more innocent Brits!

The IRA is a left-wing group. many of their menbers received traing in arab terrorism training camps. They like American money but hate democracy. I woiuld like to see a united Ireland but not under the control of a murdering left-wing (IRA) goverement.
To: Lee Heggy
Er, the IRA is against taking out IRAQ, not against terrorism.
The reason the left is so up in arms about IRAQ is because that is the terrorist sanctuary, the underground part of the cold war that is as deadly as ever.
the dots connect up pretty well...
OBTW: you saw of course where IRA operatives were caught in Colombia? These were the ones who helped set of a car bomb in Bogota recently.
It is all part of the same world-wide socialist terrorist network: a network J. Fischer, (yes, THE J. Fischer that is trying to sabotage NATO) was a part of, e.g. - the Red Army Faction in Germany, FARC in Colombia, al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, any more i left out??

What a surprise one socialist terrorist organisation supporting another one...

Really? Hadn't heard about that - got any sources? Thanks in advance...

Question - was there not a recent post here that Hillary Clinton told the Irish to support a war against Iraq?
Now this. We haven't heard much from Sinn Fein lately why suddenly he has someting to say about Iraq.

Actually they've been against America all along in this. Even after September 11th, they didn't want America to hit the Taliban.

Really? Hadn't heard about that - got any sources? Sources all over the place, just do a simple search.
It's no secret, for example, that the PLO has provided training for them in PLO camps. Nor is it a secret that the same PLO has sold them weapons, or that IRA bomb experts are teaching advanced "things that go boom" to Islamic representatives in South America.
