"Mexican authorities have detained six Iraqi citizens who they believe intended to cross into the United States from Tijuana. The five men and one woman cliamed to be German citizens when they arrived at the Tijuana airport Tuesday night on a flight from Mexico City. Immigration authorities have sent the Iraqis back to Mexico City for questioning. Officials are trying to determine whether the Iraqis might be Caldean Christians, a group which claims it faces persecution in Iraq."

Just ask them to repeat "Jesus is the Son of God" and "Mohammed is a lunatic creep."Yeah right.
Then some damned ACLU a--hole would file a lawsuit against the FedGov for a violation of their civil rights and breaking down the separation of church and state. Then as remediation demand instant citizenship and a pot of gold for the plantiffs and for, of course the NYU laywers

As another San Diegan, I totally agree ..Ever since I moved to SD back in August I've been worried about the ease in which somebody could camp out up in the hills above Old Town, or on the hills off of MLK (along the landing flight path) and take down one of those jets.

I guess I should have mentioned the jets coming in for a landing at the airport.

The one woman in the bunch makes me very suspicious. They may think that having a grrrrrl along makes them seem more like bona fide persecuted Christians, but I'm not buying it. Claiming to be German first also sets off my terrorist antenna. I hope they keep this crew in Mexico City. It's a good Christian country, should be good enough for the Iraqis if they are seeking sanctuary from persecution.

Geeeeee ... thanks for that horrifying thought!!
I'm across Mission Valley from that flight path - but I can see all the planes as they get on final approach. You're right, it might be possible.

The government could probably get a good deal on Spam that's near its expiration date. DYK that the French name for pork-eaters is "Mangeurs de Lard"?

When I came out here apartment hunting I found this really cool place, but I decided against it when place started rattling. I walked outside and saw this plane right above my head. I couldn't get over how close they were to the ground coming in.

Fox news said that they had already recevied asylumn in Germany. Then, why are they trying to enter the United States illegally from our porous southern border... especially under these increased terrorism alerts? Are we to believe Christians are fleeing from Sadam in Germany? I hardly think so. Are they terrorist who see an obvious whole in United States Homeland Security? This seems like the most likely scenario.

If they're not Caldean Christians will they decide they are after they or their lawyer reads this article? It is irrevelant that they may be Christians..it proves the point made here over and over, those southern borders are a terrorist sive..but we do not want to insult the Hispanics lest we lose their illegal votes..

The news alerts on Fox are like a child that has gotton ahold of a new toy and will play with it nonstop until an adult takes that toy away from them...
LOL. Very true. Although I can see their logic: more alerts - more eyeballs - more ad $$

You may be right, but on the other hand the Mexican authorities have a somewhat freer hand in the selection of interrogation methods. Also, since they hadn't crossed the border and were apprehended on the Mexican side they belong in custody there.
