Yes, that is true, but you have to remember the climate we were in- the Xlintoons had pretty much threatenend that they would do to the gun makers the same thing they did to the tobacco indistry- sue them out of existance.
S&W should be watched carefully for any further bending over and grabbing ankles.

but you have to remember the climate we were in I have something for you to consider here I think.
1. S&W was owned by the British at the time this happened. Aren't all guns banned now in Great Britain? Were these Brits using a backdoor approach to spreading the anti-gun policies?
2. All the firearms manufacturers were in the same Klintoon induced climate. Name a single one that caved like the British owned S&W.
MHO only, but I think you're going a little easy on the old S&W. They were duplicitous, and they were held to account.
