I have a question. I understand that if this nomination were to go to the full senate that a simple majority is all that is required to confirm the nomination. I am unclear about cloture(sp). If the republicans invoked this would it change the number of votes required to comfirm the nomination in the full senate?

Thanks in advance-Greg

60 votes are needed for cloture, which would stop the filibuster and allow them to vote on Estrada. Only 51 votes are needed to confirm.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
