There is a large difference between Medicines, Drugs, and Supplements.

However, you raise an interesting point, with Testosterone Gaining acceptablility as Hormone Replacement therapy, has it not occurred to you, that this legislation is water carrying for the Drug industry, since they have much deeper pockets than the Supplement Industry.

One only needs consider the artificial hysteria around Ephedrine, to get a cleaner perspective.

You're right. And, vitamins and most supplements can't be patented. The drug industry would love to see all vitamins removed from the shelves.

I would like to know the actual damage to teenagers when they take these supplements. The article didn't really spell it out. But, as you said there's a strong parallel with ephedrine here. Ephedrine was used very safely for decades in many over-the-counter products. But, then in the last 15 years companies started putting it into pills in concentrated form for the purpose of helping people to get high. Young people started abusing it, taking such pills in quantity and doing it every day for weeks at a time. They get dehydrated and don't know it, they had heart attacks and died. I read that dozens of young americans died like this. THat is why ephedrine got banned. This article did not explain the problems young people have with this stuff. But if it helps the elderly to live longer, then we should not ban it regardless of the problems young people get from it.

Bingo. It's like John McStain wanting to ban Ultimate Fighting, while taking big bucks from the Boxing industry.
