WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Americans have apparently heeded the U.S. government's advice to prepare for terror attacks, emptying hardware store shelves of duct tape.
On Tuesday, less than 24 hours after U.S. Fire Administrator David Paulison described a list of useful items, stores in the greater Washington, D.C. area reported a surge in sales of plastic sheeting, duct tape, and other emergency items.

On Hugh Hewitt's show an Israeli Security expert made it quite clear that this duct tape & plastic application is an Israeli method.
It happens to be effective there because the houses are concrete.
Using this approach on a frame structure is basically useless, if not impossible to do effectively!

Actually, duct tape works very well on warts. My sister had tried everything to get rid of her warts, tried duct tape, and a few weeks later, no warts.
To: JustPiper
We already had a case of the stuff on hand.

Yes, I heard Yoni, too...that was NOT very encouraging, was it? Perhaps there IS nothing we can do with these wood framed houses...But gosh darn, some good solid advice would be great.
Maybe Hugh can stay on top of him and get something out real darn quick.
Yoni DID have some good stuff though....

You are a true American Mother and an asset to society. What is your address? I may need some of that. Any plastic sheeting?

But there MUST be some other way we Americans could use duct tape in this war against terrorism.

Far enough to get away from the gas???
It would take me hours to seal my house!
I really don't much of an idea how these gases work as far as how much time do you have if a gas was set off at x distance from your home? What's there range? How much time do you have at low levels? How low do they last?
I think this would be more useful info than "buy duct tape".
Gasmasks make a heck of lot more sense than plastic and tape.
