There was a house about 100 yards from us across a small valley and stream that had a chimney fire two weeks ago. They are still able to live in it, but barely. It was a new house with a double wall chimney inside a wooden housing on th eside of the house. We have a triple wall and I still ran a liner of plain old stainless steel stove pipe through it for additional safety. We use a themometer on top of th estove to help regulate for more efficient burning. We can get that dude up to 900 plus in just a matter of minutes.

I wonder if the same builder constructed that home as Wally's previous home?

IF an attack happens that requires one to shelter in place...any suggestions for keeping warm?

We have no natural gas or 'power' heat, just a woodburner in the cellar. (kerosene heaters in 'storage') Either one would be a no-no...right?

Just wondering about that since it's c-o-l-d. And wondering how you'd keep drinking water from freezing, not to mention the food stuffs and kids.

And those who have their pets/dogs...how would THEY handle the call of nature for them? Let them crap in the house? Let them go outside, then back in the house with whatever 'nasty stuff' has been 'detonated'.

OH, another thing...AFTER they say it's 'safe' to come out, HOW do you go about cleaning/'debugging' your house if any of that crap has filtered in?
