[history]
Bloomberg) -- Iraq won't accept the presence of United Nations peacekeepers under a plan by Germany and France to disarm the country of its weapons of mass destruction, Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri told Al Hayat.
The U.S. and U.K. are heading for a showdown with the French and German governments, which support continued arms inspections and want more monitors sent to Iraq. France, Germany and Belgium vetoed proposals to equip North Atlantic Treaty Organization member Turkey with missiles to defend itself against a possible attack by neighboring Iraq, a move U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell called ``inexcusable.''

It's a rather ridiculous stance of Germany to be opposing it as a NATO action while providing the requested men and equipment in a low-profile manner Part of the French and German motivation is a compulsion to run around screaming "I am relevant!" (rather like a certain XPOTUS we all know and loathe).
(The other parts are their oil contracts and the realization that they are gonna be soooo busted when the occupation forces give Saddam's WMD programs a real inspection.

I think the biggest part of the German resistance to war is the fact that a large majority of the nation has adopted a Susan Sarandon mentality of "What has Iraq ever done to us? War is bad for children and other living things."
It's partly a result of the socialist mentality that believes in compassion, but loses a grip on reality.

Compassion? For whom? Not for all the people who are being killed by the Butcher of Baghdad. Not for all the masses of people who would be killed in the future if this mad man is not stopped.
So who is all this compassion for?
This has nothing to do with compassion. This has to do with a Darwinian predisposition by the masses of people to hasten their own destruction. Most people are too stupid to live, and continue to do so only through the protection of better men than themselves. Those people are just lemmings looking for a cliff.
What bothers me most of all, is that a few good men will die, so that these worthless wastes of humanity will live.
