This is the niche that Paul Wellstone carved out for himself and even earned the support of the American Legion's PAC in this last fall's election. Even though he despised American values and fought against the military in every way he could, he was a champion of medical benefits and veteran's issues.

Imagine: A Marxist being supported by the political element of a National Veteran's organization.

Every Veteran's Day ceremony at the national cemetery where I live would feature comrade Paul harranguing the crowd on one lefty issue or another as long as it had a tenuous connection to veterans.
