THE BALKANS: Yugoslavia Gone, Macedonia Threatened
February 8, 2003: The EU peacekeeping force for Macedonia named its first commander. German Admiral Rainer Feist will direct the EU force that will relieve some NATO troops in Macedonia. Interestingly, the EU command center will be at NATOs Mons, Belgium HQ.
February 4, 2003: Just in case you missed it, its no longer Yugoslavia. The new state is officially Serbia and Montenegro. The new state will have its president elected by the deputies of the new parliament. The national capital remains in Belgrade; the supreme court will sit in Podgorica, Montenegro. The army will be under civilian control, via the Supreme Defense Council. This consists of the Serbia-Montenegro Union's president, presidents and prime ministers of the two republics, and various military representatives.
February 4, 2003: Macedonian sources report an Albanian (on horseback) attempted to enter Macedonia illegally. The man was shot and killed. A second man escaped. The incident took place near the town of Debar.
February 3, 2003: IWPR reports that the Macedonian government really does fear a new spring offensive by Albanian militants. There are credible reports that the Albanian National Army (ANA) has uniformed members operating around the towns of Lipkovo and Tetovo. An interview with an ANA leader (part of ANUF, Albanian National Union Front, the alleged political front for the ANA), claimed that the ANA had a division in the area. The name of the division? Skenderbeg of course (named after Albanias national hero).
February 2, 2003: Serbia says that if war begins in Iraq, it wants to send its troops back into Kosovo. Serbia is concerned NATO might withdraw troops and create a power vacuum in Kosovo.
As France and Germany are blocking NATO "defence" of Turkey as Turkey will allow agression from its territory now United State is going to block the transfer of the NATO mission in Macedonia to EU forces.
Macedonia is the place where NATO and EU strategic goals cross and NATO does not want to give up its victory that easily.
Now beneath the moving screen of World War III, the Kosovo Liberation Army prepares once again to defend the Tetovo Republic from the Slavic madmen who refuse to yield to Albanian sovereignty. Why must young Macedonian conscripts be massacred by the superior Albanian shock troops? Just as Chechen freedom fighters kill dozens of Russian thugs each week -- so will KLA/UCK cadres once more destroy the flower of Macedonian youth...
The madness of it all. Skopje must yield...
Millions will die in the Third World War. Islamic entente forces preparing a massive world wide counter-strike that will make 9/11 seem like a ripple in a pond. It appears that before the month is out London to be struck with a vengeance and fury that will traumatise much of the West.
And in Bosnia and the Philippines the West so very unprepared...
President Bush must launch the US attack now -- to wait is to gamble far too much for the slight gain of an incremental increase in strength that another few weeks will bring. A catyclysmic game of chicken now under way -- to blink first is to be destroyed...
May the Christian god have mercy on the UK...
The forces of freedom on the move. Europe trembles.
Article 4 is the most important part of the allience and if it is not acted upon it the allience becomes a local pensioners club.
Turkey has asked for defence of its territory at a moment when there is no imminent danger on its territory and the country is not at war.
The raising of the article 4 by Turkey is a political blackmail to NATO sponsored by GB and US.
That would have forced NATO to act and agree to the war. That would have forced Germany and France to bypass their parliaments and be involved in a war and on terms they did not want.
Fusion, next time you see Mr. D would you mind asking his take on the "Republic of Montenegro Trade Mission" at 18th and New Hampshire? Such a large and handsome building in posh Dupont North -- I'll bet the annual rent alone is more than Montenegro's GNP, much less the value of bilateral trade with the US. What sort of "trade" do they have in mind?
Ain't that the truth Destro. The French and Germans were willing to let NATO act outside of it's own charter in the Balkans but when Turkey comes calling for the Axis of Weasels to live up to their commitments, they scowl instead. The havoc wrought upon the world by the American Beelzebubba will reverberate for generations and cause friends to become foes.
Fusion! Please post more often in the coming weeks. I was starting to doubt your predictive abilities but your forecast of a third world war is looking more and more likely.
in World War II Albania and Bulgaria were both on the same side i.e. the German side. The territory of Macedonia was divided along ethnic lines between them two. Well the Albanian part was administered by the Italians. People used to take side in the war. One grandfather was in the Bulgarian army and the other with the Partizans.
Now we have similar thing. The fear is that Macedonia is going to be divided into 2 between Albania and Bulgaria for their support to the American war on terrorism.
I mean the American representative that was forcing the Framework Agreement down the Macedonian government throat in 2001 was James Perdiu who at the moment is the American Ambassador to Bulgaria. US is shifting from German bases to Bulgarian bases and Bulgaria will want something in return.
At the moment there is a Social-Democrat government in Macedonia that has restored the North-South link i.e. Serbia-Macedonia-Greece. The Greeks have finnished their oil pipeline to the Skopje refinery (while the Bulgaria-Macedonia-Albanian one has not even started).
The only American allies in macedonia are the president (traitor) Boris Trajkovski and his advisers. Now there is a plenty of anger in Macedonia due to lack of Western European support and arrogance but there was a lot of support from Germany during the 2001 war.
The EU force is to deploy in March replacing NATO (!?) in a mission called "Allied Harmony" but that will be blocked by the US because French veto on Turkish support.
I think there will be a war in Macedonia in spring and summer between Albanians (US, Britain, Albania, Bulgaria) and Macedonians (France, Germany, Serbia, Ukraine).
It will be just another normal ethnic conflict where the ethnic groups have hated each other for centuries. You know it is the Balkans. It is normal to have war there. (buuuullsh***t!!!)
It is only that dirty loundry is aired lately, and in small batches...Two years ago,Gen. Michael Rose in BBC documentary "Friends and Allies" had said: "NATO is dead!"Reason;American arogance and duplicity in Bosnia.
Evesdroping on him and other UN officials;deliberate derailing and sabotage of every peace initiative;maltreatement of NATO officers(almost beatings) from other countries who were witnesses of US clandestine arming of Bosnian Muslims;refusal to go anywhere dangerous, even to provide helicopters for medevac(Malesians had to do it);large number of French casualities, they use to go everywhere....
Remember how after Dayton Tony Blair and Jacques Shirak anounced creation of EuroCorp!?Even the Brits were very pissed off with American attitude!
"They behave like referee siting on the side line and ordering us what to do!"
Then came Kosovo:Spanish pilots were deeply offended by the treatment they received by Americans;everybody else was astonished by a brazen attack on Chinese Embassy in Belgrade!Gen. Jackson`s refusal to obey Clark`s order to attack Russians in Prishtina...
Cracks are everywhere.
And,now this! One more thing:American preasure (!) on EU to accept Turkey into EU has deeply offended Europe.
Nobody in Europe suports war on Iraq, but Bush&Co equalise that with "anti-Americanism" which is ridicoulous!
"With us or against us",policy is going to backfire
That is the latest Gallup survey on Iraq for 2003.
77% of Macedonians oppose action against Iraq under any circumstances.
At the same time the president Boris Trajkovski has announced his support for the American war together with the other 9 East European countries.
77% against and he is for it. It is a one man show down there.
At the same time 45% Albanians are against any action, 62% of Bulgarians and 84% of Bosnians.
Overall the people in Europe are against the war. However they are not the policy makers of the day but their governments.
Even in Australia people are against unilateral non UN war against Iraq but the Prime Minister is ignoring the public opinion.
