Howlin, thank you for the ping. While I feel very secure in my work location and at home, I worry about my daughter and family in Alexandria, VA.

Keep you spam in a safe place.... you know that what was left over from Y2K....... the non event. I think some are still trying to sell their stash.....

Haven't had a chance to read all of this, but I was prepared for y2K also. Yes, I was one "of those."
Anyway, I still have 6-55 gallon drums of water in my garage for an emergency. It's good for 5 years, so I still have 2 years on it.
My question....if your home is all taped up because of Nuclear fallout, or bio attacks, how does one get fresh air into it. Wouldn't you eventually pass out from lack of oxygen and an over-abundance of carbon dioxide?

BTTT for later.

Most of this stuff I'm aware of, and know about... the only problem I see is, What if FR is down for a week? How does one survive THAT???? How could on epossibly prepare for THAT?

"Would it be useful to have a portable generator you could wheel over to the local gas station, hook up to the fuse box, and get the pumps running? "You must turn off the breakers so that you do not 'stream' electricity back down the electricity lines. During power outtages during hurricanes, some people in this area make that mistake.
I have a generator and 110 gallons of gasoline on hand all the time.

Additional thoughts on Cyber attack:
Read and heed the CERT notices for the computer systems under your control. Make sure you have all relevant hotfixes installed; make sure that your boxes aren't already zombified by some pimply-faced kid in a turban shouting "ALLAH AKHBAR! I HAVE ROOT!"

"My question....if your home is all taped up because of Nuclear fallout, or bio attacks, how does one get fresh air into it. "It was a very cool ..... I will release it in our creek as a tribute." Bury it. What if it had a disease, you could kill the fish in the creek.

Things always go wrong with them, and they rarely last... that's why they are called Beta...
That being said, I'm sure you will look back on the fond memories of long walks, frisbee in the park, and the loving companionship you shared with your pet, and one day you will be together again in a far better place...
