My bad goes back over 10 years to my high school days. My current bastardization of the English language which I despise is "sup", the ebonicsfied combination of "what is up" or "what's up".

One of my son's karate teachers had a habit of greeting his students with "whassup ?". My son, being the honest speaker that he is, was unsure how to respond. His sister suggested that he reply, "The ceiling", which he did. End of problem.

I went to high school with a guy (20 years ago) who was 10 times the guitar player I could ever hope to be, who wrote a jazz compsition called "My Bad". You're right that the expression is nothing new.
