"At this point in time...."

Which means the same as "now."

Why use five words when 1 will do?

I think your right. We're seeing a paradigm shift of meaningless words and bad grammar. It is very unique. For sure.

No Doubt.

Any word where the "s" is replaced with a "z" - drives me crazy!

A guy I used to work with put an apostrophe in EVERYTHING plural. When I see it now on FR, I have terrible "flashback's." EEWWWWW!

I'm no west coast surfer expert (I'm in WI) but, I believe it stems fom the surfers who would describe the perfect wave as being just under the top of the wave as the wave starts to crash over them, thus creating a lip, curl, or tube ie: tubular.

What's important is the people communicate well.

If communication is the important part of language, why not take the care to use language precisely? That way everyone knows exactly what one means to say. When a speaker or writer uses slang and bad spelling , the meaning is known only to the speaker or writer. Everyone else is forced to make an assumption, leading to poor communication. Grammatical guidelines were created not just to confuse and annoy students BUT TO FACILITATE GOOD COMMUNICATION...

Amazing, huh?

But still, I'm here to represent.

Periods and commas always go inside quotation marks, even inside single quotes.

Ayup. You are absolutely correct.

I am guilty of not proofing two of the three uses of this rule.

My bad!!!!!!!!

BTW. You appear to have left your ellipsis open.

Back in the day, we never used cliched expressions like that. My advice to you, Sir, is don't go there. I'm series.

"why not take the care to use language precisely?"

Because it's boring. Language should be fun and alive! Wordplay is a fine intellectually stimulating art.

Words that once were considered slang are now accepted even by some of the most staunch grammatarians and new slang words are invented. Slang words usually are more precise and communicate more information that proper King's English can. For example "My Bad" versus "I'm sorry, I made a mistake".

Much more precise! Amazing, huh?

pickles my bomb load

What the heck does that mean?

I like the sound of it, but I'm afraid if I use it out of context, I may unintentionally offend a large person with a weapon.

I went to high school with a guy (20 years ago) who was 10 times the guitar player I could ever hope to be, who wrote a jazz compsition called "My Bad". You're right that the expression is nothing new.
