On the radio show I am speaking of someone else told a story where he was in line with his 80 year old grandmaw and grandpaw...
They were standing in one of two lines at a grocery story. The grandfather looked to the grandmother and said..."We should have got into the same line as that black guy", it's moving faster.
The grandmaw replied..."Shhhhh....They don't want to be called "Black" anymore...They want to be called "Colored".
Of course the guy explained they were both wonderful people, just "Ignorant" as to the topic at hand. Which, of course, is not an insult.
This reminded me of some of the older people I know...The absolute best people I know...Good, honest, loving, hardworking people, all them. And among some of these people, what we might call "Off color" or "Insensitive" remarks are quite often the norm...Examples like I just listed...Honest ignorance, nothing more.
They're just good people from different times. But I do find it interesting.

THat really makes sense Gar boy-Ignorant insensitive old whites call Blacks Colored people instead of people of color as do the suave sophisticated young politicallycorrectites. Kind of like calling them blacks instead of negros, which is the spanish word for black. Nothing like trying to reason with unreasonable dummies.
