I think that Ms. Fuller and Ms. Sawyer are PRIME targets for one hell of a giant mass-action lawsuit. They are trying to slander everyone who ever went to kindergarten and chanted about grabbing tigers by the toe. If I recall, I actually had a bad dream about this last night. In fact, I do believe I have sustained mental suffering from Ms. Fuller & Ms. Sawyer's extremist anti-nursery bigotry. HEY! Pain & suffering? Over here! Me Too! Sign me up for the lawsuit. TODAY!

n the law theres something called the reasonable person standard used to find out how a reasonable person would act in a certain situtation. I think that a similar standard should be held to plaintiffs. If your suit is simply insane, it gets thrown out. Period. Also in the law is something called forseeability used to determine proximate cause in tort claims. The long and short of it is that if you reasonably cannot foresee something, you are not necessarily going to be held liable, otherwise you could have a domino effect forever. In this case, i wouldnt expect a 22 yr old flight attendend to reasonably expect this type of reaction from what she said. I think we should just ban all public speaking and public actions as to avoid any chance of potentially offending someone.

I was thinking about that. As a laymen, of course...

I wondered if the outcome of the trial could hinge on the experiences of whomever decides the outcome?

I've explained elsewhere on this thread that when I was growing-up, it was "Catch a Nigger". And it was normal for me. It was the only way I ever heard it. I've heard others tell the same story. Even others who grew up around black kids...All of them using it. Then of course I've heard of those who say they've NEVER heard anything but Catch a Tiger". And all of the same approximate age, we just grew-up in differing areas or situations.

Now...Being of the type of person that is familiar with what these women are suing for, I can understand someone possibly being offended. But I can also understand a person with the oposite experiences being bewildered by the situation.

I have little doubt that the 22 year old girl is absolutely innocent. But, I can see the crack in which these women are trying to use to create their cash flood.

I also wonder...Were these black sisters the only people in the isles at the time? If not, I don't see how they can have any kind of case. Unless it was only black people in the isle at the time. I guess they could sue on the basis of being pointed-out as slow-pokes.

Since yours is the latest post it is the one that I am responding to, not necessarily because I believe in your point of view. Of course, it is your right to cuss me if you want to. I'll hardly feel it.

One thing that troubles me as I reach the last few years of my life is that others who have yet to live their lives have defined how I can relate to mine. I think it is better that I not try to explain here what I mean, but to sit on the back porch or front porch with old friends of my youth would be so sweet.

Give a few dozen of us southern seniors, black and white, a weekend of turnip greens, black eyed peas, corn bread and our own sweet memories and we might just be able to..........

Because Rednecks are rugged individualists who shun organizations such as the liberal Black's NAACP-each Redneck is an army of one, who can survive and thrive in any environment even one so hostile that cactus die, coytes cry and the devil himself would pass it by. They just don't whine enough to garner up much sympathy.

It never gets so bad that Rednecks can't laugh at themselves and find something to thank God for, or someone worse off to share their blessings with. Rednecks are so busy living each day for all it is worth, that they have no time to feel sorry for themselves or hate anyone else.

Rednecks are the only minority left in our whole politically correct society who are safe to laugh at and who can enjoy the humor of their situation right along with all the bigots of all races, ethnicities, and hues, who have become so small, self centered and narrow minded that they can no longer find any humor in their own puckish pettiness.

Because it describes a specific group of mostly white people who are racist and/or ignorant and/or still wear a mullet.

Wow. I once knew a Mexican-American woman who employed that exact same logic when she tried to explain to me the difference between "Blacks" and "n******."

So what do you think will happen if we have a white history month? They will be screaming to the top of their lungs that this is racism. Black history month purely and simply is racism, if it were not racist there would be twelve months out of the year of historical awareness. The name speaks for itself and one that cannot see it for what it represents then that person is not paying attention.

NAACP does not stand for equality of the colored people, it stands for advancement....over what I presume? Let's call the truth the truth and leave the PC crap out of the obvious.

Southwest was not in the wrong here. It is the infernal court that even stooped to hear this case that should bear our opprobrium.

I'm not saying Southwest is in any kind of "Wrong".

Note: I am assuming this "phrase" is something commonly used on Southwest flights...As many comments the flight attendents on Southwest make are, in their effort to make flying more "fun".

I'm just saying someone could have seen this coming if they knew of the "eany meany miney moe" phrase being commonly used on flights. It would have dawned on me. In this politically correct world we now live in.

Re:"The court agrees with plaintiffs that because of its history, the phrase `eenie, meenie, minie, moe' could reasonably be viewed as objectively racist and offensive,"

What district is this ???

And another thing:

(I know it may seem I am picking on you-- I don't intend to, but your posts have inspired me.)

For someone who seems intent on demonstrating how much racism lurks beneath the surface of white society (if I have interpreted your remarks about your father and your upbringing correctly), you sure do like to spell out the "n" word. I never would have thought this of myself, being on the insensitive side (let's face it), but seeing it spelled out so baldly bothers me. Doesn't it bother you?

This type of complaint is racially devisive and could have great unintended consequences.

Of course. That's what they want.

This is so spot on, it needs to be repeated:

"She didn't say either one. These crazy women heard her say "Eenie, meenie, minie, moe; pick a seat, we gotta go," and it REMINDED them of the racist version they'd heard somewhere, and they ASSUMED it was directed at them, and they ASSUMED other passengers' giggles were directed at them. And now they want to get PAID for all this stuff that happened entirely inside their own heads!"

I'm waiting for some Jacoby and his/her shill to sue Target Stores...for using a logo that celebrates shooting.

Less than half kidding here........

On a side note....have any of you Brazil nut eater's ever had the opportunity to see how Brazil nuts actually form on the tree. It's amazing..really..the nuts form in a bigger nut or pod, with all the smaller Brazil nuts symetrically lined up inside. Pretty cool looking.......FWIW--

"I just commented to another poster that it is sad that the many fine blacks who share most values with you and I, all too often allow the Al Sharptons, the Jessie Jacksons and these ladies speak for them."

Hmmm.. yes, I completely agree with you. It has always been a mystery to me that whilst there are so many wonderful examples of gentlemen and gentlewomen of color, the foremost leaders of the so-called 'black community' are quite often carpetbaggers who are largely in it for their own personal self interests, community be damned.

Why is it that whenever an American of African Descent** succeeds in the "white man's world" he or she is called 'Uncle Tom', 'House N----r' or some other nasty name? Why do they not rally to Ms. Rice or Mr. Powell? Why not to Dr. Leon Sullivan? Why, instead, to the truly soul-less Mssrs. Jackson or Sharpton? What a waste. Sigh.

** And I use that phrase purposely... I seriously dislike the term African American, just as much as I dislike Italian American or German American.. it puts the wrong emphasis on the group... we are Americans FIRST.. and we all come from different and valuable backgrounds that should be celebrated - as Americans.)

So what do you think will happen if we have a white history month?

I don't have any problems with any minority, or majority for that matter, who wants to celebrate their culture. I don't know why you would either. I think it helps build character. Screaming RACIST at a group of people certainly isn't very constructive in any way whatsoever.

As for your specific question, where is the Isle of White anyway? Personally I wish I was something more than just "White"...Or at least I wish my ancestors had kept some of their cultural traditions alive. I envy those with strong cultural hertiages. If you're refering to those cultures who happen to be other than black, then I believe they celebrate their differing cultures all accross the country too. Columbus Day. St Patricks Day. Cinco Demaio (I'm sure I BUTCHERED that). Octoberfest. (Numerous Asian celebrations that I can't list). Mardi Gra. And how many have I forgotten?

Lighten-up Francis. As with anything, "Black History Month" is what the participants make of it. And somehow, I just can't belive ALL those participants are dirty disgusting racists.

1) You're making a lot of assumptions. All wrong. But knock yourself out...What do I care?

2) No. It's a word. Offensive in some contexts, not in others.

Cute.

Let me guess...You have a coon dog tied to the 76 camero that's up on blocks in your side yard?

Don't try to bait me, it won't work.
