Ohio, now that I have some time, I would like to express how honored I am to know you. Ever since I started posting on the Dose in November, I was so aware of your loving and compassionate nature. Even when you are being sarcastic towards trolls and trouble makers your words still reflect the loving person that you are. You are such a loving person because you have placed your heart and soul completely in the hands of God. That, too, is so evident by reading your posts.

In a short time, I have gotten to know you and your family. You have expressed your pride in your four wonderful children, and your fears for the paths that they have chosen. We all share your pride and pain, but we know not the full might of your feelings. But know that there are many of us with you in prayer, especially for Eric. He has chosen to serve our country in a most trying and difficult time, but take comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord.

From what you have told us about Eric, he seems to be headed in the right direction in life. He appears so full of life, energy, and love, which he could have only learned from his parents.

I cannot begin to know your pains, but I often cry with you when you express your fears for you son. I am so blessed and greatful to know you. You, Ohio, are truly an amazing and inspiring person.

I'm glad that you got to see him, and that he smiled.

I was thinking of what to say after finding out that he left today. I wanted to tell you that the angels would watch over him, but I don't do "mushy". Then, the words of another great American president facing the hard reality of war jumped out at me from my archives of quotations, and I knew I had found our angels.
