February 10, 2003 -- LET me share with you a great American success story.

A 17-year-old named Miguel Estrada immigrates to this country from Honduras, speaking only a few words of English. He attends Columbia College, making Phi Beta Kappa and graduating magna cum laude, then Harvard Law School, becoming editor of the Law Review.

I don't have information regarding his stance on the abortion issue. I stated that they FEAR he is Pro Life. IMO, the Dems don't want ANY judge who actually uses law or the Constitution to rule on cases, and most judges who do this happen to be Conservative.

I found the book The Real Anita Hill to be quite informative about the Judicial Committee and what goes on behind the scenes with judicial nominations. It gave me a new respect for Orrin Hatch and a desire to vomit on Teddy Kennedy and Joseph Biden. (I know, I know...the author is a traitor...but it's still a decent book.)

Hatch came on after Teddy. I've heard what he has to say before. Schumer was just recognized and he yielded to DeWine of Ohio. I don't understand that part. Schumer is against Estrada and DeWine is for.

Ann Coulter is VERY pro-Estrada. She apparently told Begala on Crossfire, "He'll overturn everything you love." If Coulter is so on board with Estrada, and she knows him, then I think we should be VERY supportive.

I hope so. He's pro-abortion and has other failings but I like what he did for New York City and he's a lot less left-leaning than that sawed-off stinker supposedly-Republican Bloomberg. I wish he could've run against Hitlery though. If Schumer losing would help her in any way, SHE'D vote for Giuliani!

Let me put this in a way that, pardon me if it seems like spin. It probably is almost impossible to get elected to NYC mayor and be pro-life. I think he pushed his abortion rhetoric too far...

That being said, running state-wide, I think it would be tough for him to not call for a PBA ban, as Lazio did against Hillary. But even more important than that would be his willingness to confirm Bush's judges. He's speaking out for Estrada very publically now. He is very loyal to Bush and will likely vote for just about anything Bush wants. I think he has his eyes on the big prize (how could he not...) and if he wants that, he HAS to play ball with the prolifers. We'll see...

The liberals have to govern from the bench because the voters have gotten out of the habit of letting them govern legally.

Rudy is definitely pro LAW (anti-crime) and supportive of President Bush. I loved him even before 9/11/01 and even some of my many liberal co-workers (in a television newsroom) couldn't help but like him.

Besides that, I think he's awfully cute. :-)

Some note that Estrada lacks judicial experience.Did Thurgood Marshall have any judicial experience before he was nominated to the Judiciary by Lyndon Johnson? Did Justice Marshall argue as many cases before the Supreme Court as Estrada?

That is why the RATS are so hysterical about the Senate confirming conservatives as judges. They think that conservative judges will follow their precedent and legislate from the bench. Do unto them as they do unto us.
