A Kurdish newspaper was reporting that Dr Taha had been murdered. The report alleged it was to stop her confessing what she knew to inspectors.

The Kurds should understand Saddam better than that. If she was murdered, it was to send a message to lesser scientists, to this effect: Guys, I'm willing even to kill her, so don't doubt for a second that I'd kill you even quicker at the first whiff of disloyalty. In other words, the Baathists kill people like this not because of anything she did or will did, but simply pour l'encourager les autres (to encourage the others). Just like Stalin.

Dr Germ deserves everything she gets; shes Mengele in a skirt. I have heard they have tested these weapons on dissidents, spies, and people who have crossed Sadamm. It is inconceivable to me that people out there still want to "talk". Sadamm and his whole entire horde of murderous thugs need to be removed, by any means neccessary, no more inspectors or resolutions, no more waiting for France, lets get it over with.

I believe that Diane Sawyer (Good Morning America) announced this morning (on Georgie's show) that she had an interview with this woman earlier today - and it will air on tomorrow's GMA.

Sawyer was quite giddy that she had snagged an interview with this woman who has been tops on the UN Inspector's list. I guess the fact that the good Doctor would do whatever she could to eliminate Americans (and the rest of the Western world) from the face of the earth doesn't count for anything...

Ya gotta LOVE the press. Jeez. /sarcasm

Im wondering if the UN is starting to sense their irrelevance. Years and years of appeasement of dictators, liberal social programs that only served to line the pockets of those in charge, putting Syria as head of the Security Council, weapons inspection programs that provide more humor and frustration than knowledge, allowing France on the Sec Council, just years and years of foolishness. W's patience is indeed wearing thin with the UN, but I think it goes beyond their ineptitude. Hell, W had to go up to UN HQ and shame them into yet another resolution! The UN sucks and as soon as we cut ties, the better.
