A California supreme court justice rings warning bells. I can remember when Souter was such a catch in the first Bush administration. Earl Warren was also a real dandy from California. We know how both of those nominations turned out.

I'm with you: I'm awfully wary of any judicial nominee coming from the Left Coast, and the fact she worked for Pete Wilson doesn't exactly send me into paroxysms of joy, either.
