Um, you might want to re-read the article. You see, if this is true, then there will never be a "The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe", because there will never be an end of the universe to build the restaurant at. Just FYI.

The end of the universe is not a place. It is a time. The restaurant is poised at a point in time where the universe ends temporally. It's presented as entertainment for the guests of the restaurant. Ask the mice.

I seem to recall a string theorist positting a "respirating" universe which balanced between points of maximum "inflation" and minimun "deflation". Any idea whose work this was?
