My employers gave themselves a raise, fired me and kept the ilegals.

I have very strong feelings about supporting our military and very strong feelings against illegal immigration, but until you said that I never thought of the connection. I can hardly stand it!!!

Report the company to the ... IRS. Or at least threaten to.

Yes, drop the dime, pursue all avenues, but first, find another job. Then, get started helping to stem the flow of immigrants, legal, but esp. illegal to our country.

IMMIGRATION MORATORIUM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have senority over the person they decided to keep but she is an immagrant and so is the owner and he told me straight out that he prefers immagrants over Americans..

Is she an immigrant or an illegal alien? I’m not sure you have your story straight. Besides, having seniority doesn’t guarantee you are the better worker.

One more thing, does you job require proper grammar and spelling? If so, I might have an idea why you were laid off.

they will not lay off the ilegal aliens because they can pay them much less.. Is there anything I can do????

If they are knowingly keeping illegal workers there is a lot you can do. See an attorney, but make sure your get your unemployment approved first if you were fired without good reason (no fault of your own). The doctrine of employment at will (you can be hired or fired at your employers will) has certain legal strings attached nowdays.

A lot of FReepers tend to support Nafta, the WTO and any other treaty(?) that sends our jobs to Mexico and China...Not to mention open borders for the illegals...

And the advice is always great and right on mark: Go back to school...Start your own business...(In the mean time, hunt for the nearest homeless shelter for your family)...

Like one fella says, when your neighbor loses his job, it's a recession...When you lose yours, it's a depression...

Get ahold of the US House of Rep. from Colorado that is raising hell about the illegals. Be direct, calm and honest.
And Send Bill O'Reilly an e-mail. :)

If job prospects look bad, and they do in almost all fields right now, go back to the company and tell your boss you'll work for less. Convince them that you have no resentment about being laid off, that you'd rather the company survive in these hard times and that you understand that the decision was made as a result of the souring economy. (IOW, LIE!)

Negotiate to get your job back. If you succeed, look for another job while working there, as your best chances of finding work are if you are already employed.

Good Luck!

That was totally uncalled for.

You really think the illegal mexicans have better grammar and spelling that this person? Your remark was just plain dumb.

Also, to let you know.. I worked full time and am going to school at night, working on a degree in Science and hoping to become a teacher. God knows we need more conservative teachers in our schools.

Well said! My last boss and coworkers were self-pitying lowlifes. After I quit they ran me outta town and did what they could to discredit me, going so far as telling people they fired me!

Strange, shortly after I left, they were all drowning in work. They couldn't keep up and got more negative, turning on themselves.

3 months after I left, one guy quit. 3 months later, another guy quit. Thw whole department turned over in 1/2 a year after I quit. The reason: they knew they couldn't trust their boss, and they knew they couldn' trust each other.

And they weren't equiped to do the work.

I'm workin on my business now and am very pleased with it - this is the life!

First, ping MarineInspector, he can tell you what to do about illegals.
Second, it's their business so what they pay themselves is up to them.
Third, tighten your belt and keep on keepin on.

Imagine, our young men as they look over their shoulders while marching off to war, they will see millions of illegal aliens enjoying the benifits and freedoms of America, with no worry of risk.

Our soldiers will literally be fighting to protect and ensure that those millions upon millions of illegal aliens continue to enjoy the fruits of America without lifting a finger or risking anything.

This is outrageous! But it seems the governent has no desire to protect our borders and uphold our sovereignty. It's just not part of their plan.

I have very strong feelings about supporting our military and very strong feelings against illegal immigration, but until you said that I never thought of the connection. I can hardly stand it!!!

It's so freaking wrong.

That was totally uncalled for.

I just made an observation. The guy who posted this appears to have poor communication skills. Certainly, there could be an immigrant that has better communication skills than an ignorant native.

You really think the illegal mexicans have better grammar and spelling that this person?

The poster has refered to “ilegal aliens” and “immigrants”. What makes you think they are Mexican?

Your remark was just plain dumb.

I’ll not worry about your assessment.
