When I was deployed to Desert Storm one section of our ordely room tent was covered with well wishes from America. There were scrolls from school children, and a table with goodies and gifts from the folks back in the USA. We did not know these folks, but we enjoyed reading the the scrolls and eating the goodies. It was much like a pep rally before the homecoming football game back in college, and it did wonders for the morale of military people camped out in a 10th Century Desert. I am not certain, but I suspect, the goodies may have to be procured by the military from donated funds.

Lots of people are sending goodies overseas. FReeper KineticKitty is helping with a 'care package' drive in the Ft. Hood area, and the Canteeners have a large laundry list in the Post Office of what to send, how to send it, and where to send it. FReepers KKing and bkwells are currently on active duty in theater, and we've gotten a lot of feedback from them on what to send, where and how.

Check out Tonk's Post Office for all the info you could want or need!
