a war which, in any case, does not involve immediately the peace and freedom of the nation.

This is a correct statement. The war did, however, involve the the immediate political fears of Lyndon Johnson. If Saigon fell to the communists before the election of Nov, '68, Johnson knew he would suffer the same fate as Truman did in '52 because of Korea. The Vietnam war was escalated solely for the political ambitions of LBJ. That's it. That's all there is to it.

The problem I have with Clinton and his ilk, is that they campaigned FOR Johnson on a "Peace" platform and all the while Lyndon was planning to escalate the war after his inaugural in '65. The blame for the tragedy of the Vietnam war lays squarely at the foot of the Democrats.

(By the way, I was drafted.)

The RATS did the same thing with the stock market, they sabbotaged it to be used as a political football for thier agenda. Nothing matters to the RATS, peoples life savings or a soldiers life on the battlefield means nothing to them. They have been practicing pure Naziism since JFK's death. Pres. Johnson was a commie, no doubt about it.

"Johnson knew he would suffer the same fate as Truman did in '52 ..."

I don't believe Truman ran in '52. Ike ran against some wreck of Democrat (Stevenson?) and won handily.
