I am sure of one thing however in the history of this region (it isn't entirely related, but it is relevant). I read parts of the book "The Black Book of Communism," and the Communists' atrocities against Christian people of all backgrounds, particularly Latin and Eastern Rite Catholics, in Central and Eastern Europe are a DOCUMENTED FACT. Since the Catholics' hierarchy was based out of the Vatican, and it took an active anti-communist stance, the Catholics were particularly targeted for torture and execution. Demonic ceremonies that mocked the Mass and the Catholic faith were held in prison camps in attempt to get seminarians to renounce their faith. Many of the Orthodox Churches, which were divided by country, collaborated with the Communists, and some Catholic priests also colloborated with the Commies. But most devout Christians, whether Catholic or Orthodox, were persecuted by the Communists, and had to flee, many to the U.S.
I think we should remember this instead of bickering of who colloborated with whom, and who killed what group. As long as Christians are at other Christians' throats, the forces of evil will use that to their advantage.
Instead of posting...just drivel about Eastern Orthodox Christians collaborating " with commies... why don't you do some research on just HOW SO MANY R.C. CROATIAN nazis WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE WEST with the help from certain R.C. leaders??? Amazing and TRUE!!
And, just so you know this...the commies on Russia....murdered over 60 million Orthodox Christians for their Faith...about 1 million Church clergy and Church lay people as well.
