Purge the environmentalist from the ranks and I'll be happy.

Shhhh, don't tell.....

One of the mods said once, 'if I was left in charge, there'd only be one person posting'. Part of our job is to accept other viewpoints even if it isn't ours. The main guideline we follow is, is it conservative, and does it adhere to Jim's basic
guidelines.

What I want to know is why you threaten to nuke people who use the word idiot in a post.If you're reading this, you really should've let that one go.
To: Admin Moderator
I've said it before and I'll say it again. When articles that adress propety rights are juxtaposed against environmental concerns the forum is less served.
My experience has been, in the case of an article that dealt with manatees and federal regulation, arbitrary.
Say what you will but the impression is lasting.
There is an agenda from the ranks of the mods and it isn't dissemination of ideas but rather a collection of accepted principles.
You and Jim know what to do, what you do remains to be seen.

These seem to be reasonable calls, one and all. I have hit the abuse button a number of times. The poster, and/or post, in question has disappeared each and every time in a timely fashion. I did bitch once about a thread being pulled that I thought was interesting. I was chastised for not bitching via FReepmail and insted trying to do it on a new thread. In hindsight, that made sense.
So, all I can say is keep up the good work. Anybody who can remember the major disruptors of earlier days will understand the importance of what you moderators accomplish.

You're all just figments of JimRobs imagination
We landed on FReeper Planet ...
"Hey, Boss, this robo-dude here named John Robinson says he can distill some highly addictive web forums!"
"Yeah, Doc, I was connected to the Krell's FReep-O-Matic, and you should see my mind now!"

I just read a comment posted about that very topic. Remember when Jim would leave for a couple days and it seemed as if every disruptor and liberal idiot would invade the forum? Posting the same article 10, 15 or 20 times? Now, at least, Jim can take a day off now and then and know Free Republic will be intact when he returns.
To: Admin Moderator
Yes, I remember it quite well. The forum was useless until Jim returned. It was frustrating to no end. I know that we have added huge numbers of FReepers since then who have not experienced an effective disruptor attack and sometimes view moderation of posts as the "evil" censorship but I don't hold that view at all. Jim's solution was inspired and effective. So, once again I congratulate all of you folks who keep the forum sane. It's kind of like Wyatt Earp or Bat Masterson in Dodge City. When the cowboys came in off the trail to let off some steam they were supposed to deposit their sidearms at the Marshal's office. When they didn't, Wyatt or Bat had a choice:
they could shoot 'em dead
or they could whack 'em in the head with a pistol or blackjack and disarm them.
Nearly always, they just whacked 'em in the head. That way they could visit Dodge again and enjoy themselves having figured out the rules.

It's my favorite CE movie. Tried to find a red town pic, but no luck. Imagine Jim as Clint, and us mods as the sheriff.
To: NYTexan
TBS has Clint Eastwood movies on all the time. They're called the spaghetti westerns because they were filmed in Italy.
To: Admin Moderator
Yes, but that was when he was wearing a serape!
I think they changed location for this one.

I don't have a favorite CE movie. I enjoyed almost all of them. But I do have to admit to owning a copy of the Lonesome Dove miniseries which I have watched at least six times.
To: Admin Moderator
OK, so all Admin Moderators are listed under the same date - 9/3/01? What I meant was that I signed up 9/15/01, and that 1080 people had 'joined' in the 12 days from Sept. 3rd to Sept. 15th.
Also, when I put my curser over my name, it shows 67593 rather than 60593. Regards, potlatch

I am not sure what the problems here are. You gave as the URL in the 'old' style this: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3ba73cca5ddc.htm
You said that came off of your bookmarks, but when I search your bookmark for that URL I do not find it. The title you gave is in your bookmarks, however.
This year's guide to Massport hacks, by the numbers
http://www.FreeRepublic.com/forum/a3bc04da940c9.htm
Notice that URL is different than the one you gave before. I am not sure where that first one came from, but the system does not recognize it as being valid.
The URL in your profile though (http://www.FreeRepublic.com/forum/a3bc04da940c9.htm) was valid, and went to a page that was as I described before- pulled with a note that it was pulled due to some sort of graphic loading problem. I am not sure but I would guess that means that the image was not only not loading, but for users of a type of browser it was preventing the page from rendering. Its been so long ago that I can't be sure. But I did in fact restore that thread last night. Click here. Thanks, AM
