Negative. They could have begun deployment earlier.

Yes, without satellite guided bombs, cruse missiles, a command center and air field in Qatar, rearmed and refreshed AC Carrier battle groups, new training for our troops, preparation with Iraqi Resistance to establish a government and God knows what else.

There were several stories posted last spring here about our shortages in the types of smart bombs our military wanted. Both plants were working 3 eight hour shifts. The schedule they published was that we'd be able to get by with what was produced by last fall, but they really wanted amounts that wouldn't be available until December. Who knows what the real levels are…

Vastly preferable to thumping Syria, too. 'twould be easy to do but no reason not to concentrate fire.

After the US establishes a permanent military presence in Iraq, every nation that borders it will have different tone. Iraq is a strategic gold mine.

I'd strongly encourage the Israelis to train some of their pilots to fly Mig 29's. Paint them in Iraqi paint schemes and then fly'em into Syria and take out the site[s].

Too James Bond?

REAL DEAL:
Syria has no oil wealth and Iraq has plenty. This kind of deal is easy to imagine.

I trust the Syrians as much as I do the Iranians.

I'd venture a guess that we'd be more likely to see the Syrians handing out WMDs to Terrorist organizations before they of their own free will give them to us.

The site in Syria needs to be taken down.

Some U.S. intelligence agencies believe

Duh! Israel has been saying this for 9 months.

This is what we get for having Arab stooges like James Baker and Warren Christopher bend over for Syrian dictators for 12 years, giving them an undeserved place at the table of nations, this despite a 20+ year old UNSC resolution demanding their immediate withdrawl from Lebanon, as well as their support for every terror group under the sun.

They have always been a terrorist state, despite the impimateur bestowed upon them by the Arabist State Department. It is now time to add them to the Axis and destroy its regime along with Saddam's.

And in the meantime, Iraq has been able to manufacture and deploy also.

I still believe that we could have deployed a month earlier if we had started sooner and were not delayed by ploitics.

I believe that the last satellite we needed to launch for the military constellation we were building WAS on the shuttle Columbia...

the Columbia's last flight was a very important military mission. and it was successful.

The politics distracted Iraq these last few months. Forcing them to hide WMDs and court the West rather than deploy WMDs and terrorize the West. You and I have no way of knowing our readiness last month compared to today with confidence unless we're on the inside near the top.

Wouldn't that be a hoot.

No, what would be better is using the presence of the weapons in Syria as the reason for going in and taking Syria out (also one of the most oppressive places on the planet if you're a Christian or a Jew).
