Drugs, kinky sex linked to cop: Reports: Accused trooper, wife partied
The Boston Herald ^ | 05 February 2003 | Dave Wedge

Accused wife-beating state cop Tim White and his wife led a hard-partying life of coke snorting and three-way sex that sent the respected trooper into a downward spiral of depression and violence, according to court records and affidavits obtained by the Herald.

In the aftermath of a harrowing ordeal at their Stoughton home last week during which White allegedly stuck a gun in his wife's mouth, Maura White told police a sordid tale of a nine-year marriage gone awry. She said her husband, a 16-year trooper and former department spokesman, had grown depressed over the past three years and was on anti-depressants.

According to an affidavit by Stoughton police Sgt. Robert J. Welch, White ``wanted to have sexual relationships with his wife and a third person.'' The couple went out on Saturday nights to clubs and bars where White would ``disappear'' and watch from afar as men tried to pick her up, Welch reported.

The fantasizing turned to reality last July when the couple picked up an employee of a Hub nightspot and brought him back to their home where the three had sex, Maura White, 41, told police.

In addition to the alleged sexual escapades, the couple partied at home and were using drugs, authorities allege.

Following his arrest, Tim White told doctors that his wife had been using cocaine for more than a year and that he had been snorting the drug for several months. White, who last year was assigned to the department's narcotics inspections unit, also tested positive for marijuana, records show.

The revelations come in the wake of a terrifying brawl in the couple's home last Monday, during which White, 39, allegedly stuck his gun in his mouth three times and his wife's mouth twice. He also slapped her to the ground, splitting her lip, kicked her in the stomach and pointed the gun at her buttocks.

White's attorney, Tim Burke, said the trooper should be in a private mental health facility, not a prison hospital.

``These are obviously matters of a personal nature which have a limited relationship to the matter at hand,'' Burke said of the sexual allegations.

Stoughton police Chief Manuel Cachopa said officers had been called to the couple's Southworth Court home three times before last week's incident.

On June 23, 2002, police responded there at 4 a.m. to ``remove an unwanted party,'' Cachopa said.

Police were again called to the house on Dec. 6, 2002, when White allegedly grabbed his wife and licked her face during an argument over taking the kids to school and shoveling snow. Police filed a complaint charging White but the case was continued on the condition the couple attend counseling.

A conference in the case was scheduled for April 8, but because of last week's incident, Stoughton District Court Clerk Donald Stapleton yesterday issued a complaint charging Tim White with assault and battery for the December incident.

Police also responded to a 911 hangup at the house on Super Bowl Sunday - the day before White allegedly terrorized his wife at gunpoint in the home.

Maura White has told police that the couple had a fight last July, during which her rib was broken. Court papers say police responded to the house but Cachopa said the department has no record of the incident.

The most recent brawl came after Maura White left with the children for the weekend. Court papers show she dropped off the girls, ages 4 and 6, at a friend's house on Sunday and stayed at the Dedham Holiday Inn.

The trooper also allegedly crawled into bed with the weapon with one of the girls. He was arrested after a tense, hour-long standoff.

Two abuse and neglect reports have been filed by the Department of Social Services. DSS spokesman Michael McCormack said the girls are staying with their mother and the case is under investigation.

White is being held without bail on attempted murder and assault charges at Bridgewater State Hospital. He has been suspended without pay.

Maggie Mulvihill and Dave Weber contributed to this report.

A lot odd, if you ask me. As a guy letting his wife getting picked up by another man? And as a cop using cocaine?

"What do you think happens to the evidence from cases that get tried and come to a close?"

The nose knows.

Odd that the psycho cop went for an MFM vice an MFF. Must have other "issues" as well.

Yeah he was kinky, White would ``disappear'' and watch from afar as men tried to pick her up..

I wonder what the Mrs. looks like..

most likely he used it as self-medication.

This is one of the lies told by drug users. No one ever self-medicates with illegal drugs. Recreational drugs are only taken for the pleasure they induce. There's never another reason. Any claim otherwise is a lie to absolve responsibility. One key characteristic of drug users is they are notorious liars. If I know someone that tells lies I immediately suspect they are a drug user. I have never known a drug user to be a truthful person. If you keep up with the self-medication lie I suspect you are an illegal drug user yourself.

"This is a case that cries out for intervention," said Burke, White's attorney.

Job Number 1: Get him on the treatment track, instead of the incarceration track, where the average person ends up.

When officers start to go into crisis, most Police Departments treat them as used dishrags rather than get them Critical Incident Stress Counselling.

In my opinion, this is a crying f*cking shame, and it's one of the reasons I want this Drug War to stop.

I tried to Google some pictures but I drew a blank. I'd bet dollars to cop donuts, though, that they put internet ads on kinky web matchmaker sites.

The truth is people take recreational drugs for one and only one reason: for the pleasure of it. No one ever takes drugs to self-medicate

Your conclusion does not follow from your premise. "Pleasure" includes removal of pain (psychological or otherwise).

Woh, hold on there. You switched from "illegal drugs" to "recreational drugs" in two sentences. There are several if not many "drugs" that can be used properly as medicine and used in other ways just to "get high". Morphine, Valum, Codein, Ritalin, ...... the list goes on.

Many drugs, as Im sure you realize, are "presecription only". Many are pain killers. Without a prescription, you can't legally have them. So, they would be "illegal drugs" for a non-prescription holder. So, are you saying that people who "illegally" get, say, vicadin, are doing it for the high, and not to kill pain, and if they say otherwise, they are a liar? Sorry, you are just plain wrong.

And, there are thousands of people who only smoked marijuana when there were symptons associated with cancer, aid or glaucoma. I guess they are all liars too?

One key characteristic of drug users is they are notorious liars.

Many drug addicts are liars. It goes no further than that.

If I know someone that tells lies I immediately suspect they are a drug user.

Maybe you are the one who needs to be on medication for paranoia. Just my unprofessional opinion.

I have never known a drug user to be a truthful person.

Maybe its all about the crowd you hang out with.

If you keep up with the self-medication lie I suspect you are an illegal drug user yourself.

Your paranoia is showing again. I suggest you seek help.

"Reeses" #44 to me indicates the poster may just have some problems of his/her own. The arguments don't follow, and the paranois runs rampant.

You may have a point. Now as far as his coke and weed use, I'm wondering how he obtained the dope.

Did he steal the dope from persons he arrested or from the evidence room, did he buy the dope, or trade his wife's flesh for the dope?

Maybe "all of the above" at one point or another. Notice that she was doing cocain before he started. She was either getting it from somewhere, or he was getting it for her. Also, the story doesn't make it sound like she was an unwilling participant in the "three-way sex search".
