One thing I've noticed is that non if them seem to be mentioning anything about those tapes or the photo's

Except the Iraqi. He said perhaps they noticed that he smiled when some of the tapes were played.

He now says Iraq encourages their scientists to engage in intereviews requested.

Translation: "We've killed all the remaining scientists who actually know anything."

One of the most striking unstated conclustions from Powell's speech was that the inspectors have been compromised. The Iraqis knew where the inspectors were headed days before they arrived.

Of course, this limits our ability to share our intelligence about weapon locations.

This is one of the clearest arguments against further inspections. I wish Powell had stated this fact more explicitly, but perhaps he didn't want to shame and directly accuse the inspectors of collaborating with Iraq.

It doesn't matter what this guy says. He's lying, he knows he's lying, and everyone in the room knows he's lying too.

The only thing that will matter (groan..."at the end of the day"), is what the 3 networks cover tonight. Will they show Powell's strong points? Will they provide balanced assessments? How will they divide the time between Powell statements, commentators, and what the lying Iraqi says.

That's what will determine public opinion here. And face it, that's the major importance of Colin Powell making this presentation to the UN today, to persuade the American people that we are righteous in going to war with Iraq. Makes me sick to think "public opinion" is in the hands of Peter, Tom, and Dan.
