Remains of Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon have been recovered in one of the debris fields in the southwestern US and a funeral is expected to be held in Israel next week, media reports said.
An IDF attache in the US has informed the Ramon family of the find, which NASA has confirmed.
The reports follow news that a charred piece of an Israeli Air Force flag, which Ramon took with him aboard the Columbia shuttle, has been found in Texas.

A piece of debris from the space shuttle Columbia, believed to be Col. Ilan Ramon's flag from the Israeli Seeing things like this piece of his flag, the charred helmet, part of a safety harness just breaks my heart all over again.
The following has been on various other posts. Written in a completely different time it is so right for the Columbia crew. You could hear the pure joy in their voices when they talked about what they were doing and this poem conveys those feelings
High Flight
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things you have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand, and touched the face of God. This poem was written by a young American, John Gillespie Magee, Jr., who flew with the Royal Canadian Air Force in England at the Start of WW II. He was killed shohrtly after he composed "High Flight."
