Friends like...uhh...France perhaps? Or Germany? Who should we say it to? Those countries we already know are against us? GW is a man of few words. I suspect he thinks it's a waste of time and effort to say those words to North Korea.
But don't get me wrong. I know Australia is a strong and usually-faithful ally. But Australia, like the rest of the world, doesn't recognize how serious America is about confronting our enemies nose-to-nose. Sure, there'll be the Kennedy-Pelosi-Dasshole-etc.-appeasers...mainly because there's a Republican sitting in the Big House right now. But Americans in the heartland understand the terrorists declared war on us 9-11. And those countries who support terrorism, by association, did so as well.
North Korea, Libya, Iran, blah, blah, blah. Name any country you like in your argument of why we shouldn't be attacking Iraq and I'll answer thusly . . . THIS President is not the immoral, lying-ass jackass his predecessor was. THIS President is going to pick off our enemies one country, one organization, and one terrorist at a time.THIS President knows negotiation only works between moral parties.
Give us time and we'll take care of any country or terrorist organization who wants to do us harm.
If the rest of the world likes it, fine. If they don't, piss on 'em. We're sick of being kicked around by our enemies. And we're damned sure sick of being kicked around by our allies!
Like it or not, we're the world's ONLY Super-Power and terrorists all over the world have put bullseyes on our backs. THIS President will not let the American people become docile targets. Some of us will die. But a lot more of us will die if we do nothing.
So...you're wrong...it's perfectly valid for us to say . . . You're either with us or against us.
But if this was the case, then why did we hear the cries of "It's all about oil" at the time? This mandate is very similar to today's mandate: Iraqi disarmament or Iraqi regime change. Once that is accomplished, we will quit Iraq. Same as before. So I ask again, why should we listen to the "It's all about oil" argument in the face of 1) no evidence that it is, and 2) much easier ways to "force" ourselves into rich oil situations???
Sorry, but you're regurgitating whacko leftist propaganda. We're swimming in oil, it's cheaper than bottled water. We're doing this to insure no more 9/11s, and God willing, no more Bali disco bombings.
Where is OSAMA? Lets go after Osama, lets go after the remainder of the terrorist organisation. Surely the war on terrorism has not finnished.
Actually, we are going after the remainder of Al-Queda. Our military is big enough to multitask, like we did back in World War II. As far as Osama is concerned, the man is deader than Elvis. I assure you that you won't be hearing from the man ever again, except in the occasional fake letter or fake audiotape.
Good point.
Was Bosnia all about oil? Was Kosovo? How about Haiti? Somalia? Grenada? Panama? Vietnam?
Lets go after the people who could supply the above with an A-bomb or nerve gas first, huh?
The Secretary presented a compelling case for action and any reasonable man has to acknowledge that. Something has to be done about Saddam Hussein and if the UN are going to prevaricate themselves into inconsequence then the Christian West has a duty to humanity to go it alone.
Post-Secretary Powell's speech, I now hold the same view, with the tiny modification that Saddam is more likely to enable terrorists to acquire WMD than use it himself. Cheers, By.
Throw another Talibunny on the barbie, mate!
I don't know, Byron. His favorite movie is The Godfather, but he already murdered how many Kurds using chem. weapons?
Former Brit. PM John Major once told of the toughness of President GHW Bush in dealing with Saddam before the Gulf War. He told Saddam that if Saddam dared use chemical or other weapons of mass destruction against Israel, the US would use any and all means to end Saddam's existence. PM Major said that there was no doubt among any of the coalition members that Pres. Bush would keep his word.
Your PM Howard is a rock! We will not forget. (^;
