Ted Costa, of Paul Gann's group People's Advocate, just announced on the Roger Hedgecock Show in San Diego that a People's Advocate process server will be serving recall papers on Governor Gray Davis on Wednesday, February 5. Costa and his group has been involved in over a dozen ballot petition drives and has qualified every one of them that's he's undertaken. A recall drive will require around 1.2 million signatures to get a recall election on the ballot.
Costa said that contrary to what most people think, a recall can occur at any time after an election. It's only if a recall fails that a 6 month waiting period must be observed before another recall can be attempted. He cited the case of Paul Horcher, whose recall was initiated "within hours" of his election.
The People's Advocate website is not yet up, but will carry information about the recall effort in a few days.
"We havent seen the bottom yet, and after all Davis budget plans sink in, I dont think youll have to fund a Davis recall effort. It could happen by itself. He lied about getting stuck with a massive deficit. It was clearly planned so Davis could hand billions in raises and pensions to public employees, who then delivered thousands of votes to Davis and gave him the edge over Bill Simon. Its incredible, incredible, outrageous corruption.
It doesn't work that way. If the recall is successful in gathering enough signatures, then candidates are given a period to file. The Gov then gets replaced with the candidate who receives the MOST VOTES. Bill Simon would win this -- especially with 8 or 10 alternatives. The winner could take office with as little as 25% of the votes, as long as they received the MOST votes.
FYI thread ping!
Thanks for your well'thunk out remarks, now get the hell out the way. To live under tyrants and not even try to overthrow them is a sad sign indeed. Maybe we don;t deserve any freedoms, which is the way things are headed when you let a despicable political system deliver such results. All I see is a lot of hand-wringing by quite a few, but I also see a lot of folks who do care about this state's and nations future.
That's my take. Like it or lump it... I don;t care, just get out of the way and let nature take its course and what the demRats eat their own in a recall.
All you out of staters, don;t meddle where you aren't wanted, if you want to contribute money fine, but leave the rest of your diatribes at home. Truble is coming to your states soon enough if we don;t act here.
If I had my way, I'd recall all the demRatic socialzit politicons as well.
