You left out the part about Nahe & Mosel wines. :>)

In any case, you're being naive. Governments don't just let these things happen. They have purposes for them. You can't possibly believe that companies were selling these dangerous products to the Iraqis and your government didn't know about it. If they knew about it, then why did they let it go forward? It's more than just money for the economy, my friend. They knew it would seriously damage relations with the U.S. if it became public.

Just allow yourself for one moment to imagine: If there were a purpose for Germany to allow WMD sales to Iraq, what would that purpose be?

I think it´s naive the way you´re talking about the German government. Even if the government knew what was going on (you should prove that first), it wouldn´t have caused harm to US-relations, since the US have delivered WMD support to Baghdad in its fight against Kurds and Iran, too.

Note: Germany was a satellite state of the US until 1990.

Please provide evidences to your assumption that the German government knew of the weapons deliveries and that German firms supplied Iraq after 1991. If you can´t, stop attacking the government.

America had no better friend in our Chancellery than Helmut Kohl, after Konrad Adenauer. And Schröder is in office since 1998.
