Maxwell expects to draw flak for his depiction of Confederate soldiers as human beings rather than the racist caricatures which the viewer expects in a modern film. The culture has stiffened into a politically correct straitjacket, he says. He must have run across you, lol.

IMO, the south should have abolished slavery and then seceeded.
I don't know if it really happened but in the movie Gettysburg Longstreet says the same thing.

I can see lines of over 35 male Civil War buffs camped at the theaters waiting for the first show. It will look like the Confederate encampments before Fredricksburg. This under 35-er will be in line as well - with company.
If half of what I'm hearing is true I'm amazed this movie was even made.
I'm even more surprised that they're bothering to promote it so heavily on TV.
