This is way beyond artrocious. This is, in effect, our government speaking. This must be hung out to air in public.

Lincoln was for all intents and purposes a Marxist in his later years...

I wonder if they will ever mention that Lincoln wanted the blacks returned to Africa, not to stay here and become citizens. I wonder if they will tell the truth about his hatred for American Indians. Probably not.

Very worrisome. This definitely seems to be coming straight from 1984...

Could you give me some examples that leads you to the belief that Lincoln was a Marxist in his later years? I have read alot about Lincoln from both the conservative and liberal point of view and never got that impression.

I think those who say he would have been for abortion rights and other contemporary liberal causes are dead wrong. There is nothing in his speeches or writings which would cause me to take that leap.

At what point in time are you talking about?
Second question:
Where did you sleep in class?

WRONG! The fact is that Lincoln did some work as a lawyer for the railroads. Hardly a Marxist activity. Also if he were a Marxist he would have favored expropriating private property in the South after the Civil War. He did not. Lincoln's Reconstruction policy was strongly opposed by the Radicals back then.

All anyone has to do is read Thomas J. DiLorenzo's "The Real Lincoln". Lincoln was anything but politically correct; he was a loner and a man trying to hold the Union together as a country; he was never "The Great Emancipator", he was a man building a nation - at any cost - and for any reason.

Actually, I retract that comment! I'm not as familiar with Lincoln as I should be, and when I went to look for the various quotes that I recalled, I immediately stumbled across an essay which establishes that they're fraudulent. Sorry for my misguided remark..

AntiGuv can't. He is one of those who posts and runs without giving proof. Hey, gravity doesn't work in the Florida Panhandle. Sorry. I can't give you the proof. I only have time to post and run.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Thanx for the correction. If you look at the record, Lincoln had absolutely NO connection to Marxism or Socialism. Remember, early in his political career Lincoln was a member of the Whig party which was considered the "conservative" party at the time.

You don't have to get nasty & rude. I have no problem stating when I'm wrong... Here's the essay which discusses the fraudulent quotes that I recalled.

Fake Lincoln Quotes by Thomas J. DiLorenzo.

Sounds good. Truce! :) I admit that my 19th century American history is probably weaker than most any other period or region..
