That is a code word for, "I was in the service during the time period but did not do a tour in Nam." Just what year did Stinson enter the service? He looks to be in early 40s or late 30s. To have actually been a real Vietnam Vet he would have to be at least 48 years old since American troops were pulled out of Vietnam in 1973. Somehow I doubt that he was even in Vietnam during his military service. I believe that the WWII "era" ended in 1946 even though the war ended in 1945 but would anybody consider someone who entered the military in 1946 to be a WWII veteran?
My homework assignment is to find out the exact AGE of Michael Stinson.

Military personnel who served in Europe even during the height of the Vietnam War don't refer to themselves as Vietnam Veterans or Vietnam Era veterans. Some of the descriptions of Stinson says "Vietnam Veteran" without even the "era" part tacked on.
