AN Iraqi diplomat has said Saddam Hussein is watching the Australian response to possible war, while warning Australian troops would die in any conflict.
Dr Saad Al Samarai, Iraq's senior diplomat in Australia, said the Iraqi leader was aware of public opinion in Australia regarding Iraq.
He said Iraq was saddened by the fact the Australian government had pre-deployed troops to the Persian Gulf because in the past Australia and Iraq had been friends.
Dr Al Samarai also warned Australian troops would be killed by Iraqi soldiers if they went to war.
He said he had met Saddam during a recent visit to Baghdad and conveyed the mood of Australians to the Iraqi president.
That is so lame.
