My wife just read this thread and when I told her how old Howlin is, she couldn't believe it. To be nice I pegged howlin too.
Rush even came back to help with the rat battle today. He wrote a piece about it below. All I did was bring the news here to report on what was coming and you would of thought the world ended.
Shuttle Accident Appallingly Politicized Already
One of the most appalling things about the coverage of the space shuttle accident has been the Democrats' attempt to exploit the tragedy for petty political gain. It is uncanny the depths to which they have sunk in order to get their power back, in order to "get their message out," which they don't think they're doing. They're blaming George W. Bush for the Columbia's disintegration because of budget cuts and the privatization of the program.

We all have to realize that this is the strategy - nothing new. Politicize everything. Honestly, I hope it continues, because it will only increase the American publis's awareness of the Democratic 'message' - which is hate and blame. They will never learn, I hope. Let's move on.

TLB is right and so is Rush. Good show, old chap!

The Honorable Bill ClintonSorry, lost me already.
To: Theyknow
He did try to fix it.
He can't fix it.
Clinton closed the assembly lines.
It's called "downsizing" the military.
Now tell the RATS to go home.

I believe he provided this alert on Saturday evening with the intent to prepare us for the onslaught which was to come on Monday. He was correct. Oh come on, Fred. TLB took the letter as the 'cause' and deduced the 'effect' to be that NASA was deliberately complicit in the deaths of 7 astronauts. I hardly give such 'public service credit' as you do, no matter WHAT the TLB's spin is now.

Bush being at fault, who in their right mind would buy into that stuff? For starters, all those goofs who keep repeating 'no blood for oil'? And still I keep on hearing it, like it was some great oraculance from Delphi. I know you all know what I mean. It seems that half this country is made up of parrot minds.
Right minds appear to be in the minority.
Those whose efforts are to try and nip this one in the bud early are right minds. :)

Fred, if TLB was just bringing the Don Nelson 'memo issue" to light in order to give us a heads up here on FR, as you and he NOW claim, how do you explain these?
To: Miss Marple
You miss the point. This mission should never of happened. The shuttle should of been grounded until things were fixed RIGHT.....see the Nelson letter to President Bush.

It should never of even gone up that is the bottom line. There was warnings before.

Sorry no I can't take credit for that.
The only one that can take credit for that is Don Nelson who sent a warning to President Bush in the summer, and in dec the President said no he would not stop the program.

If this happened in the civilian sector, there would probably be negligent homicide charges filed at some point in the investigation. I doubt that will happen with NASA.

Now telling that the WH rebuffed Don and says there will now be a push to say oh its just one of those things we could do nothing to cover their backside but truth is there was warnings and the people in power don't want to stop it because the program may never get off the ground and all the pork is gone.

So you see Fred...if you read all of these posts...and this is from one thread only, I have a REALLY hard time attributing an altruistic, 'just did it to give FR a heads up' motive to old TLB.
Frankly, your defense with this 'just giving FR a heads up about what was going to hit the media', doesn't hold water based on TLB's very own posts, does it?

To: Quix
Let's say he did know. The conversation probably went something like:
". . . Okay, they can't fix it, they can't dock with ISS, and there's no lifeboat. Are you sure that the damage to the wing precludes a safe reentry?"
"No. We'll just have to see, but the fact is that if there is enough damage, they were dead as soon as they launched."
"Then we'll just have to pray, wont we?"
It's not like we shot it out of space. It also isn't something you tell the media and the American people before it happens either.
"My fellow Americans, Columbia has sustained damage to its left wing, and it isn't clear whether they will make it home. I'm sure that you will join me in prayer as you watch with me Saturday to see if our seven brave crew reenter earth's atmosphere."
The networks would be selling ad space. It'd be more watched than the super bowl. No way he tells anyone even if he did know.
To: First_Salute
"While we grieve for these astronauts, the cause for which they died will continue. America's journey into space will go on," Bush said in a speech to employees at the National Institutes of Health.

A few hours after this occurred, I bet my husband that the Dems would be attempting to blame Bush for this by Monday. I won the bet. Too bad the Dems proved themselves as slimey as I had thought they were.
