Oh, please. I grew up in Arkansas publik edjukashun. Look at all the other states in the South-- Arkansas is stuck in the past when it comes to the size of school districts.

I knew a guy who was from Oark and he was not just in the top 25% of his graduating class-- he WAS the top 25% of his graduating class. Standards and performance at these small schools are awful and Mike Huckabee has no choice but to obey the court's ruling and provide a high-standard, quality education to all the state's kids. He can do that one of two ways-- raise taxes (more than he already plans to with the sales tax hike) and spend more that way or he can reduce expenses so that the revenue can be split among fewer school districts which would also boost per-district spending.

Consolidation is bad for bad teachers-- that's who it hurts. I wish I had access to the equipment and teachers that kids in other parts of the state had. I was at least able to have AP courses-- but most of my class had dumb as dirt teachers and pathetic resources.
