Even on my days off I'm subject to "emergency" phone calls. Know that situation very well from a different perspective and your story of Jack under the sink brought it home. You wouldn't believe some of the emergency plumbing calls I used to get in my 'working days.' Even in retirement I get a few calls now and then.

LOL...we would probably be one of those people on your list... Mr. D. is very intelligent and talented in his own right...BUT when it comes to household anything, especially plumbing...well..no comment
Several years ago we had a leak in our only shower (the other bath was a not closed in sunken bathtub). It was old outdated ceramic tile. To save money and BOND...he decided we should remodel the bathroom ourselves....Three months into it he finally relented and asked for help because he hates taking baths. Actually EVERYTHING was going against us: 1. We're on a cement slab 2. Our house is all angles with no square corners and the shower unit we bought was too big (and that was the smallest!) so we had to knock out a wall 3. The pipes were in the floor concrete so we have to build a platform....
dare I go on???
It soon became a community wide group project (we even had some plumbing and electric teachers from our vocational school volunteer to help!)
In the process, we found our favorite plumber to fix all of our and volunteer mistakes...he and his kids are like part of the family now!!!! While it now is lovely, it has been affectionately dubbed "THE BATHROOM FROM HELL"
