So they are searching for debris in California?

That would be far harder than trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack.
The only way I could think of to even have a slim chance of finding anything would be to ask the public to take a look around.
Stranger things have happened, but there is a whole lot of wilderness between the Pacific Ocean and East Texas.

Yeah, I saw them when they were originally posted.
At that height, at those speeds, and from that distance, who knows what kind of weird things can happen with photograpy. I've seen thousands of photos with strange ghosts, shadows and weird light effects.
But if there WERE tiles coming off over CA, the chances of finding them are infinitesimal...that was my point.
Which is all probably apropos of nothing. ;-)

I found the letter to the President and his answer.
Reply from the President's OSTP: "I do not think that it is appropriate for the President to issue a moratorium on Space Shuttle launches at this time" Dec. 4 2002.

I didn't ask you for the president's letter, which has NOTHING to do with this thread.
I asked you this:
Where does it say there WAS debris or that they are searching for it?
Since you chose not to answer, I'll take that as yet another bogus post by you.

Take it anyway you want. You push I do more research and from what I find NASA is up to its ears in problems with the Space Shuttle.

...from what I find NASA is up to its ears in problems with the Space Shuttle. Sheesh, Todd, you're a frickin genius, aren't you...
To: TLBSHOW
Well, you keep their feet to the fire.
And I'll note that you still didn't answer my question.

I answered it awhile back on that other thread. I said they will look at the photos and videos and decide from there.

Oh, thanks for reminding me about that.
